A possible end to creditor harassment and a possible stop of a lawsuit

I often file Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 Bankruptcies in order to stop a lawsuit or collection efforts by creditors.  It can be very stressful to constantly field phone calls or letters from creditors for collection of debts that you are unable to pay.  The filing a a bankruptcy can put a stop to those phone calls or letters.  Once you file a bankruptcy, creditors are no longer permitted to engage in collection efforts on your unsecured debts.  It becomes even more stressful and anxiety provoking once you are served with a lawsuit by a creditor.  The filing of a bankruptcy will typically stop the lawsuit.  If the lawsuit is to collect on past due mortgage payments, the stop of the lawsuit will likely be temporary depending on circumstances.  I have had many clients over the years who stopped lawsuits by filing a bankruptcy.
